Femi Fani-Kayode’s former security guard, Otunba Wasiu Afolabi, has emerged the leader of Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC.
News Mail Nigeria gathered that Afolabi was among Femi Fani-Kayode’s security team while he was serving as Aviation Minister in 2005 under Olusegun Obasanjo.
Fani-Kayode congratulated Otunba Wasiu Afolabi on Twitter saying he is one of late Dr. Fasheun’s most trusted lieutenants.
Fani-Kayode wrote: “I congratulate Otunba Wasiu Afolabi on his emergence as leader of the OPC. Wasiu is a strong, focused, forthright & courageous man who I have known for 20 years.
“He was one of Dr. Fasheun’s most trusted lieutenants & in 2005 he was a member of my security team. I wish him well.”
Meanwhile O’odua Peoples Congress, OPC , has lashed back at former Chief of Army Staff and immediate past Minister of Interior, Lt. Gen. Abdurahman Dambazau (retd).
You would recall that Dambazau likened OPC and Indigenous People of Biafra to Boko Haram. OPC has accused Dambazau of recruiting bandits into Nigeria.
In a statement OPC released on Saturday April 10 through Mr Yinka Oguntimehin, OPC Publicity Secretary, the organization said Dambazau is suffering from ”acute dementia and gradually losing touch with the realities of the moment.”
OPC allegedd that Dambazau and four other top Northern elders helped recruit bandits into Nigeria in 2014 before the general election.
The organization added that Dambazau as Minister of Interior under Buhari ” requested and pleaded that the Federal Government should raise over N800b to settle the bandits; a request that was opposed by Nigerians”.
