Last weekend, Rivers State ministry of culture and tourism organized a homecoming concert for Burna Boy to celebrate his Grammy win.
News Mail reported that Governor Wike spoilt Burna Boy with a piece of land at Old GRA Port Harcourt and also gave him money to build.
He didn’t leave out other Niger Delta artistes who performed at the event like Duncan Mighty, the Port Harcourt first son and Timaya , the Igberi papa one of Bayelsa.
Governor Wike promised N10 million each to all the Niger Delta artistes.
Wike said : “Those of you who have come to play, whatever you have agreed with the ministry of culture and tourism is not my business.
“All of you that have come today and the Niger Delta people that have come to play today to show the talent you have, I’m very proud of you. All of you will go home with N10 million each.”
Tonye Briggs-Oniyide, the state’s Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in a statement revealed that the Governor has made good his promise.
“The Rivers State Government has made good its promise to give Ten million naira to each of the performing artistes who participated in the Burna Boy Home Coming State Reception concert in Port Harcourt last Saturday.
The payment has been carried out in strict adherence to the pronouncement of the Governor.
