Why Buhari Didn't Transmit Power To Osinbajo - Presidency

Presidency got a lot of backlash after President Buhari left for the United Kingdom without transmitting power to Yemi Osinbajo.

News Mail Nigeria reports that the President Buhari led government has given reason why he didn’t transmit power to Yemi Osinbajo.

Dino Melaye and other Nigerians had earlier called on President Buhari to transmit power to Yemi Osinbajo since he will be out of the country for two weeks.

Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, has defended their action, he said it won’t be necessary since the president won’t stay for more than 21 days. He said this while speaking on Channels TV.

Garba said : “He (Buhari) will continue from wherever he is.

The requirement of the law is that the President is going to be absent in the country for 21 days and more, then that transmission is warranted. In this particular instance, it is not warranted.” he said

Garba mentioned that there is absolutely no emergency in President Buhari’s medical trip and that this is just a routine check-up with his doctors whom he has known for over 30 years.
