Atiku Becomes First Nigerian To Take Coronavirus Vaccine

Atiku Abubakar, former vice president  has become the first Nigerian on record to take Coronavirus vaccine.

NEWS MAIL reports that Atiku Abubakar has received the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. 

The 2019 Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate received the vaccine in Dubai, United Arab Emirate. This news was confirmed by Atiku Abubakar’s spokesman, Paul Ibe. 

“The importance of the #COVID19 vaccine in mitigating the effect of the coronavirus cannot be overstated, particularly in Africa and Nigeria. Yesterday (Wednesday), as part of the mass vaccination programme, His Excellency Atiku Abubakar received the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine,” Atiku’s spokesman said.

“He is anxiously looking forward to when Nigerians, especially medical professionals in the frontline and the most vulnerable will be vaccinated in the country.”

Pfizer vaccine is the first pharmaceutical company to be granted emergency use authorization by World Health Organization (WHO) . Pfizer and BioNTech the vaccine is 90 percent effective. 

The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine has also gotten approvals in United Kingdom, United State, Malaysia and Switzerland.
